Hair Care For All
Unlike our skin that quickly reacts to tell us when something is wrong. Our hair does not have nerve endings and cannot immediately communicate when it is lacking and damaged. So it’s important to take a preventative approach to damage as it often takes time to manifest.
It’s also important to note that our scalp is skin. That’s right, just like the skin on our face, it sweats, has oil glands, and sheds dead skin cells. Stress is known to affect hormone levels that can disrupt the microflora of the scalp and cause flaking that can lead to hair loss and itching that leads to irritation. So what do we do?!
Our scalp and hair are exposed to the same environmental stressors as our skin and should follow the same ritual of care we apply to our skin, in addition to added preventative care treatments. They need regular cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.
Large amounts of vitamin E, fatty acids, and healthy omegas -3, -6, and -9 help strengthen hair by nourishing the scalp. Amino acids including collagen, elastin, and tyrosine conceivably help maintain color and build proteins, essential for hair strength.
Take care. xx
